The Military Base Buried Beneath The IceIn 1959 the U.S. Army built a nuclear-powered base inside the Greenland ice sheet. Abandoned in 1967, Camp Century now lies about 100 feet under the ice.

Cincinnati SubwayBeneath Cincinnati's Central Parkway lies about two miles of subway tunnel dug in the 1920s. The money ran out, no tracks were laid, and no train ever ran.
Wieliczka: The Cathedral Carved From SaltPoland’s Wieliczka Salt Mine runs 327 metres deep. Miners carved chapels, altars and statues from rock salt, including St. Kinga’s Chapel 101 metres down.
